a common man lodge a complaint with Directorate Of Vigilance?
Yes, the common
man can lodge a complaint to the Directorate of Vigilance. In fact,
Directorate of Vigilance welcomes the initiative from the public in
giving information about the corruption and irregularities being
indulged in ,by Government/public servants. Incidentally, the
complaints from the general public form main source of information and
help the Govt.in fighting corruption and providing a clean and
effective administration. The Govt.would like participation of general
public in implementing the concept of zero tolerance in corruption.

The Directorate
of Vigilance does not accept complaints which are
anonymous/pseudonymous in nature. The signed complaints can be sent
through post, fax or can be handed over personally. In fact, one can
lodge a complaint through this website .

on corruption can be lodged with the Vigilance Officers of respective
Departments and Heads of Department/Organization too.

Who can lodge a complaint and how?
The Fight against
corruption cannot be started, let alone won, without the active and
meaningful support of the public at large. The Directorate of
Vigilance invites the co-operation of all right thinking people in
their efforts to eliminate this scourge. Any member of the public
can lodge a complaint with the Directorate of Vigilance regarding
malpractices, misconduct or corruption in public services involving
officials of State Government Ministries, Departments, Public Sector
Undertakings, Corporations and Societies established by or under any
State Act, Government companies, societies and other local
authorities, owned or controlled by the State Government may be sent
directly to the Directorate of Vigilance. All complaints sent by
post to the Directorate of Vigilance have to be signed and should
contain the name and complete address of the complainant.

Directorate of Vigilance investigates
the complaints and takes disciplinary/criminal action against the
delinquent government servant. It also takes cognizance of the
complaint against public servants under the prevention of corruption
act 1988.

does the departmental disciplinary action mean?
Departmental disciplinary action
is a series of procedures in which a departmental inquiry is
conducted, just like the way the Courts conduct, in which sufficient
opportunity is given to the suspected public servant to prove his
innocence.The inquiry report is submitted by the Inquiry Officer,
which forms the basis for award of punishment to the guilty.

one should do if a bribe is demanded from him?
In case a person
comes across a situation where bribe is demanded from him, he should
immediately contact Anti-Corruption Branch in confidence and lodge a
complaint there. ACB will take strict and immediate action. The public
is requested to bring such cases of demand of bribe to the notice of
Anti-Corruption Branch and help it to eradicate the corruption. In the
ACB, one may approach Supdt. of Police.
